This archive records the Hangzhou section of the MORE LIFE journey in May 2023, centered around Lingyin Temple and the surrounding mountain atmosphere near West Lake. Compared with the larger road-trip landscapes from other stops, Hangzhou felt softer and more inward. Entering the Lingyin area felt like leaving the modern street behind and stepping into a slower space shaped by shade, stone, and memory.

Lingyin Temple is one of Hangzhou’s most recognizable Buddhist sites, located between forested slopes and historic rock carvings. But the experience was not only about the temple as a landmark. It was about the whole environment around it: the road approaching the temple, the dense greenery, the sound of visitors moving through courtyards, the smell of incense, and the feeling of old architecture sitting naturally inside the mountain. The temple buildings, red walls, tiled roofs, wooden details, and stone steps formed a calm visual language. Everything seemed to slow down once inside the area.

The surrounding Feilai Peak area added another layer to the visit. The carved Buddhist figures, old rock surfaces, moss, caves, trees, and narrow paths made the landscape feel less like a single destination and more like a historical environment. Some details felt very close and tactile: stone textures, worn steps, shadow under eaves, smoke drifting upward from incense burners. Other moments opened slightly, showing temple roofs through trees or hills fading behind the courtyards. It was a place where nature, religion, tourism, and daily movement existed together without needing to be separated.

For photography, Hangzhou was about restraint, texture, and atmosphere. The images were not built from dramatic height or speed, but from quiet contrast: red walls against green trees, grey stone under soft light, visitors moving slowly through the frame, incense smoke blurring the air, and the layered relationship between temple architecture and mountain surroundings. Some photos belonged to details, while others belonged to the feeling of walking through a place that has been visited, prayed in, repaired, photographed, and remembered by countless people over time.
